5. LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION 1
You are a teacher of English at a secondary school. Your pupil is going to enter the university and asks you for a letter of recommendation. Write the letter and tell who you are, when and where you met this pupil, single out positive features, which are essential for the future university study. Give some examples of the pupil's school achievements.
To Whom It May Concern,As a teacher of English, I feel great responsibility to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of Yuliya Semashko, who is one of my best students. I remember Yuliya when she first came to my class at the age of thirteen. At that time she was not very enthusiastic about studying English. But soon she understood the significance of English in modern world and her attitude towards my subject has changed into a great interest. As a teacher I greatly appreciate such an energetic and inquisitive pupil. When she told me her desire to continue the study of foreign languages atuniversity, I expressed full support and encouraged her to work hard for her goal. In my opinion she has an aptitude for linguistics, and I think that she has a great future of a researcher as she shows a remarkable analyst's talent. I know Yuliya as a talented, scrupulous and hardworking person, who isvery responsible in everything that concerns her study. She always finishes her tasks in time. She is active and highly motivated in her work. WhenYuliya was asked to prepare a report on Thomas Hardy's work, she studied more than 70 sources and her report was sent to the Ukrainian Contest forYoung Scientists, where it was awarded a special prize. To sum up, I admit that Yuliya is a bright young lady, determined, open to everything new and positive. With self-pride I recommend Yuliya Semashko as a future student of your university and hope that you will give her your helping hand in her studies.
Sincerely yours,
 Anna Skorenko,
the teacher of English

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to inform you about the problems with shipping the goods Iordered from your Internet store last week.Your on-line registry facility did not work correctly and I had difficulties trying to register. I wasted an hour before I could make my order. I ordered a blue woollen sweater (article 4326, size 8), two white T-shirts (art. 5672, size 8) and a watch. Yesterday I got my order but, to my greatest regret, the sweater was of wrong size (10) and T-shirts were blue instead of white. I insert a copy of my order bill and return the items I have got. Could you, please, send me correct ones? I will look forward to your explanations and my order.Yours faithfully,
